Free Textbooks

The University of the Incarnate Word's Extended Academic Programs provides textbooks for your classes at no charge to you or to the military. This means no out-of-pocket expenses for books!

Most of our books are eBooks (electronic textbooks), which are accessible and portable no matter where your location in the world may be.

UIW Online Textbooks

A few of our courses still use a traditional hard-bound book that will require a mail out.  If your mailing address is a San Antonio address or within Bexar County, Texas books may be picked up at our UIW campus bookstore on the fourth floor of the McCombs Center. Contact the bookstore for hours at (210) 829-6056.  If your mailing address is outside of Bexar County, Texas, we will mail your book(s) at the regular postal book rate.  If you are serving in a location off of the Continental US (OCONUS), register as early as possible to allow a minimum of 20 days for your textbooks to arrive. All others (CONUS) should be received within seven days of shipping. You will receive an email from the UIW Bookstore only if your book(s) are shipped FedEx Ground - within the continental US, notifying you when your text has been shipped.  All other shipments are tracked by the bookstore. Register early!

If you are Army, please ensure that the GoArmyEd portal has your correct mailing address. For all other branches, please ensure that your e-Profile in the UIW Online Student Portal has your current mailing address. Failure to update will delay the receipt of your book and possibly preclude you from taking the course.

If the class requires an electronic version of the textbook, you will be able to download the material. Please note: You will be required to have all of the necessary software for your classes.  When you enter your class, you will find a link in the Announcements area that will give you detailed instructions to download the book.

GoArmyEd students:

Please ensure that the address listed at the GoArmyEd Portal is correct to guarantee the receipt of the textbook(s) for your class(es).
