11th Annual Veterans Day Celebration

Thursday, November 7, 2013

UIW will celebrate our 11th Annual Veterans Day Ceremony from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 7 on Dubuis Lawn. Everyone is invited to the celebration which features UIW student guest speakers and a formal presentation of the flag-folding ceremony.  A display of “living wall” slides will honor UIW community members who have served in the military.  We invite you to submit new names by emailing their name, service, and years of service (e.g., “Frank James, USMC, Korean War vet) to Jeff Oliver (in UIW’s Center for Veterans Affairs). Photos of service members are certainly welcome. UIW students will again host “Toys For Tots” during the event – please bring new unwrapped toys that will be distributed to local disadvantage children as Christmas gifts. “Toys For Tots” is a U.S. Marine Corps Reserve sponsored program.  For any questions about our Veterans Day Ceremony, please contact Karen Wyatt by email or 829-2705.
